Hi, I am making a movie for an art class and I had a few questions.

In the movie there is a girl walkig around and as she is walking around I want to be showing other moving images in her eyes. Kind of like two movies at the same time. One is the actual movie and the other are the images in her eyes. How do I do this?

Is there any free movie editing software online which would be recommended for such a task?

Thanks.

So I've been making films most of my life, and for the past year or so I think I've been making pretty good ones. I only just this past week put them online, and am hunting for comments (specifically on the films, but also on the rest of the site if you like). Since this community doesn't get much activity normally I thought it'd be a good place to seek discussion (also I don't know anyone here which is nice too).

you can find it the films here: http://www.jack-lichten.com/

My personal favorite is "Dates" but obviously I think they are all pretty good. Any comments welcome!

Hello everyone :)
I have a Nikon coolpix 7600 and I want to make stupid movies with it with my friends and stuff. However, my video editing program doesn't take .mov. do you know anyway of changing the file type to .avi, .mpg, .m1v, .mp2, .mp2v, or .mpeg because those are the only type of video my editing program will take or a video editing program that supports .mov. thanks!

I've always been very interested in independent films and the like. A couple months ago, I co-starred in one locally (montgomery alabama), and yesterday I recieved a JVC MiniDV Camcorder as a starter for Christmas. I love it and have been messing around and such, but can't figure out how to convert the MiniDV format to my computer for editing. Does anyone have any comments, suggestions, or could just clue me in if it's impossible? Thanks so much.

Hey every body, I just produced a 35 minute spoof off of Star Wars over the past summer. Me and a bunch of friends thought it would be cool to throw together a movie before we all head off our seperate ways going to college. We spend three weeks making this movie. Here's a quick description...

A long, long time ago...In a galaxy far far away...Follow Jack Lascivio as he discovers his destiny in a world ruled by the evil Emperor Bushatine and his personal bodyguard Darth Concervius. As Jack starts his journey, he meets the mysterious Ben "Obi-Tu" Kennedy who tells him about his father. When Obi-Tu takes jack to be trained to be a part of the mighty warrior race Demi, Jack joins the Democratic Rebellion, led by General Kerry. Jack must complete his training by seeking out and training under the greatest Demi who ever lived, Nayda. Who has joined the Green Party. With the Democratic Rebellion at its last stand, it's up to Jack to save the Universe from the evil Republic Empire!

If your interested check it out at A Witty Production.com. Any advice or comments that you find will be very helpful I'm a new filmmaker looking for a little direction. Thanks

Well, hi to all of you film- makers. Yeah, me and my friend charles make a lot of music videos a lot lately, because personally it's one of my favorite things to do. I don't know what life would be like without video cameras and apple computers. Lets just say a wreck.
Everyone reading this is probably like what the heck? this person is only 13 and they think they can make good movies... yeah right. Well actually, I've been workin on making movies for years now, and i've become to be fairly decent. I make a ton of movie all of the time... it takes up most of my life other than school and my band right now (houseless mouse).

So we did make a dvd... it's pretty amazing actually... I never thought it would get this good.
here's the cover of the dvd... its pretty cool

yeah, we use pretty punk rock/alternative music... its what we listen to and what we rely on for entertainment. and after listening to it for a while, you really get hooked.

well if you want a dvd then please email me at lilshortstuff349@yahoo.com, or aim me at lilshortstuff349. i'm practically always on my computer working on movies and chatting on livejournal, so please contact me if you need one.

thankyou so much, this is really going to help me in the long run.

Hi,
I’m not sure if this is directed in the right place but I’ll give it a try. I’m currently working for a high tech company and they’ve asked me to create a corporate video for them since I’ve done some stuff editing and worked on the customer support videos last year. We are looking into ordering some stock footage from television companies, etc. My problem is the camera I have is just your typical home video camcorder and obviously won’t look up to par with the stock footage. My dad is helping me by investing in a HD camcorder, specifically the HDRFX1 by Sony. I was wondering if anyone had experience using one of these and whether it’ll be just a decent with the stock footage with some tweaking. I’m going to the Sony Store either tonight or tomorrow to check the camera out myself in person, but I don’t know if they’ll be able to help with the post production/editing stuff.
Any comments would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
Emma.

hey I'm new to the community. My name is Amy, I've been making really cheesy movies for about 3 years now and using them as class presentations all my college professors and university professors have decided I am in the wrong field and have encouraged me to go into a film program. Which I will be pplying to hopefully for the end of 2006 the start of 2007. i know a far piece along but i want to finish my B.A. first. I haven't actually made anything in a while because I got a new dvd burner and well now my software is out of date so if anyone has suggestions for software I'd appreciate it!

Jul. 28th, 2005 @ 08:24 pm Opinions?
I have been mulling it over for some time, and I'm ready to make a commitment and purchase a camcorder.

The problem is, I do not have a clue what to buy, but I do have some specs that I definitely want and I have a price range.

I don't trust salesmen, I've known too many of them, and I'd rather get some opinions from users anyway.

Things I need:

I must have the ability to download what I record to my computer for editing and recording to DVD preferrably - I have USB. It must be capable of recording sports events without blurring etc., as I will be interested in  recording hockey games, martial arts competitions, and other fast moving sports. I would like as much optical zoom as possible, as some of those hockey games are recorded from quite far away. I would also prefer to have decent sound quality.

Things I don't need:

I don't care about digital stills. I have a digital camera, so having a memory card and the ability to snap jpgs is not important to me at all. If it does I don't care, but it's not a selling feature to me.

My price range is less than $600 CDN. There are, from what I can see, several options in several makes in that price range with those specs. What I'd like to know from all of you is which is the best in terms of what I'm looking for, and simply what is the least prone to manufacturer's defects?

Thanks in advance for your help, once I make my purchase I'm certain I'll be making some really poor quality movies. My 11 year old son and his buddies made their first a few weeks ago with a digital camera - a star wars spoof that was hilarious. I have tons of ideas for mostly comedies. First things first, I have to decide on which camera to buy.
